History of Danske Bank

    • In 2013 / 2014 and 2014 / 2015 school years there are thirteen Latvian talented young people from low-income families with support of Danske Bank could devoted full attention to their studies.
    • In 2014 Danske Bank in Latvia received the silver category evaluation in the Sustainability Index, which proves that the implemented practice bears responsibility towards the environment, society, employees, and clients.
    • An independent research shows that customer service provided by Danske Bank in Latvia has been acknowledged as the best in the Baltic banking sector. (Research by Dive Group conducted in December 2012.)
    • According to the new strategy, starting on 15 November 2012 the Group’s banking activities are gathered under the Danske Bank brand name.
    • In September 2011, already for the tenth year in a row, talented youth from low-income families has an opportunity to devote focused attention to their studies. In total 13 young people have received Danske Banka scholarships in academic year 2011/2012.
    • In August 2011, Danske Banka starts offering vouchers for investments in funds by providing an opportunity to purchase an interesting, original, as well as thought-out present with a long-term value.
    • In July 2011, Danske Banka signs an agreement with AS Latvijas tilti on EUR 8 million guarantee facility for a period of five years.
    • EU-wide bank stress test results are published in July 2011. The result of Danske Bank — sixth best out of 90 largest banks in Europe included in the test.
    • Also in July 2011, already for the third year in a row, Danske Banka is included in the Latvian Business Reputation Top prepared by Lietišķā Diena in collaboration with Porter Novelli and is ranked the 137th.
    • The best customer service in Danske Banka — the latter has been attested by several independent studies, as well as the result of the 2011 campaign “Praise Good Service!” in which Danske Banka was praised in the banking sector.
    • In January 2011, Danske Banka increases the credit facility of SIA Latautoavia for the purpose of the purchase of an additional amount of anti-freeze agents.
    • In December 2010, Danske Banka signs an agreement with SIA Forans on the prolongation of EUR 485 thousand credit facility. The credit facility is intended for the financing of current assets — purchase of raw materials for the production of the products made by the company.
    • In December 2010, Danske Banka signs an agreement with State Owned Joint Stock Company Latvijas dzelzceļš on granting credit facilities in the amount of EUR 30.6 million for increasing the amount of current assets within the course of implementing projects on the modernisation of the railway infrastructure.
    • In August 2010 Danske Banka succeeds in the tender and signs agreement with Lattelecom about provision of 20 million EUR credit facility for two years.
    • Continuing longstanding tradition in January 2010 Danske Banka concludes agreement with Vītolu Fonds about granting scholarships in school year 2010/2011 for 31 talented students from low income families.
    • On 8 August 2008 Danske Banka opens its fifth Customer Service Centre in Riga, 17a Lielirbes street (Panorama Plaza).
    • On 30 June 2008 Sampo Banka completely merges into multi-branch financial group Danske Bank Group, as a result Sampo Banka ceases to exist by its former name.
    • On 28 April 2008 Sampo Banka launches new service – investments in Danske Invest investment funds.
    • In January 2008 Sampo Banka succeeds in the tender on provision of long-term loan for SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš in amount of EUR 18.3 million.
    • In May 2007 launches E-bank in order to offer its customers remote banking services.
    • In February 2007 the head office starts to operate in new premises in 31/8 Cēsu Street. Next to the head office, the fourth Customers service centre of the bank is opened.
    • In February 2007, Sampo Banka increases its share capital till 12 million LVL.
    • In February 2007, the largest Northern Europe’s financial group - Danske Bank Group finishes the process of Sampo Bank’s purchase.
    • In September of 2006 assets of Sampo Banka have reached 100 million LVL.
    • In August of 2006 Sampo and Nordea sets up an extensive ATM’s network that will cover all three Baltic countries.
    • In June of 2006 Sampo Banka opens Customer Service Centre in Riga, on 11a Grecinieku Street.
    • In May of 2006 Sampo Banka receives a loan in amount of 15 million EUR from the European Investment Bank.
    • In December 2005 Sampo Banka opens Customer Service Centre in Riga, on 21 Merkela Street.

    • In 2004 Sampo Banka acquires Maras Banka.
